Ode to Joyce

I cannot think of words

To send off on this heavy day

For sadness is a thief

There are no words

To soften the blow of sorrow

When all that’s felt is grief

But let’s not end this in darkness

For she lived in the light

She graced us with her smile

And even shared her sight

But most of all, she shared her love

She was gentle as she was kind

Let’s always remember to live her love

For it’s the legacy she left behind.

This is a poem I wrote for Joyce, a photographer, a mum, and loving soul. She passed away on a Friday, third of May, 2019.
